In fact, the only two countries where Coca-Cola is not served are Cuba and North Korea. Now that’s an Interesting fact that not many know about the brand.

1. Coca-Cola as a brand

Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Coke Zero, Minute-maid are some of the brands under the brand’s wing and altogether more than 10,000 soft drinks from Coca-Cola are consumed every second of every day.

2. The invention of Coca-Cola 

The formula of Coca-Cola was invented by an Atlanta-based pharmacist John S. Pemberton in 1886, making it 132 Years old. Old is surely Gold for us coke-coholics.

The name “Coca-Cola” was conjured up by Pemberton’s bookkeeper, Frank Robinson. In fact, the unique flowing script that became the Coca-Cola logo and is still used today was created Robinson as well.

When Coca-Cola first launched it was marketed as a nerve tonic that “relieves exhaustion.” It is rumored to have contained Cocaine and Alcohol.

5. Second most understood word in the world 

The Coca-Cola trademark is recognized by 94% of the world’s population and the brand boasts that its name is the second-most understood word in the world, behind “OK.” In 2015, Coca-Cola was the world’s third most valuable brand, after Apple and Google.

6. Red Color and Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola’s association with the color red began with bright red wooden kegs, in which the syrup for the famous soft drink was originally shipped. It is interesting to note that Coca-Cola Company makes only the syrup for Coca-Cola, which is then sent to bottlers who create the finished product.

Coca-Cola produces so many different products that if you were to drink one each day, it would take you 9 years to try them all.

8. Coca-Cola’s secret

The original formula for Coca-Cola is held in a vault in a branch of SunTrust Bank Atlanta,  close to the Coca-Cola headquarters. Coca-Cola brags that only two people alive know the Coca-Cola ‘recipe’, and obviously they aren’t allowed to travel on the same plane in case it crashes.

9. Santa Claus as we know him

The Santa Claus image that is widely popular today is the 1931 illustration by Haddon Sundblom – a plump, jolly Santa in a red coat. The image was based on the Clement Moore poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” and his own Scandinavian heritage.

10. Coca-Cola in Space

In 1985, Coca-Cola became the first soft drink to ever go to space. Astronauts tested the Coca-Cola Space Can aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. Here’s the can.
