The suit should be fitted properly to have the most impact. All the features need to blend in to give a complete picture that is in sync with one’s personality. Looking cool and yet thorough professionally there are three basic things to keep in mind:

  • Keeping it clean,
  • Feeling light and comfortable,
  • Keeping it minimalist.

What kind of fabrics and colors should be used for summer corporate dressing?

Warm months call for brighter and more vibrant colors. The clothes should reflect heat rather than absorbing it. Different shades of blue and green work best and give out a naturally cool feel. For trousers, beige, khaki, lighter shades of grey and brown go well. White is also perfect for hotter months and is an all time classic summer shade.

In fabrics, Cotton is the king of summer fabrics. Cotton is airy, durable and light and this makes it a fine option to stay cool and comfortable. However cotton wrinkles easily so isn’t a recommended fabric for suits.

Khaki suits look extremely good and is a fine option for summer months. They are lightweight, comfortable and go with a lot of colors. Hemp is another fabric that’s lightweight and perfect for jackets in hot weather.

Linen is by far the most airy fabric. With a quick drying tendency and light weight plant fabric, it is ideal for summer clothing. Linen though wrinkles quickly and is rougher and thus isn’t the most apt fabric for formals.

Seersucker is the ‘Business Suit’ fabric of the season. An all time classic in the west, this fabric was originally developed by India before being adopted by the British. It is essential made from cotton with striped pattern, is essentially strong and its tight weave one way and loose the other gives an extremely airy fabric.

The kind of fit the garment should have.

As the fabrics for the season need to be breathable yet lightweight, one should be careful that the fit looks sharp and enhances the body posture without the fabric sticking to the body. Fabrics like linen have a tendency to hang on the body. A loose fit looks shabby and should be avoided. A too tight fit will not give the fabric enough breathability and will stretch the garment causing faster wear.

 What are the style essentials?

Whites with Khakis are the all time classic summer combination. Polo shirts with proper fits that bring out your body shape without any tightness are a fine choice with a navy blue blazer for business casuals. Slim fit chinos and fitted linen pants are extremely comfortable and good looking at the same time. They are the choice for formal trousers as well as business casuals. For suits, go in for seer-suckers with light patterns and a full khaki suit. Sport coats and jackets made of light twill, hemp and linen are the choice for a less formal approach.

How can you accessorize in summers?

Summer months can be heavy on the neck. If you wish to avoid ties, go for pocket scarves to keep that polished professional look intact. Hats prevent the sun from charring you and if you can carry them off, there isn’t a better fashion statement. The fragrances for the months are pleasant citrusy flavors. In shoes, boat shoes and casual loafers are light weight, comfortable and a cool option for business casuals.

Some tips from Karan

With neckwear less preferred, highlighting the collars is essential. Wrinkled and loose collars are the worst message you can put across. Use collar picks to retain the firmness and keep the sharpness of the attire intact.

The linings of suit jackets prevent the body to be in contact with the fabric. Full linings add to the stifling from the heat and can be uncomfortable when the mercury rises. An unlined suit on the otherhand won’t give a good fit, lacks dimension and doesn’t look professional enough.

Go for half lined suits, where much of the major lining is done away with but still retain the shoulder pads and essentials linings. Half lined suits require skilled tailor work to come out structured and can be completely lining free in the lower section to add to the lightness of the garment.
